Wild Rose Newsletter April 2022

Posted on April 14th, 2022

We are always finding a reason to celebrate here at Wild Rose! Last month, we celebrated Robbie Burns Day and St. Patrick's Day, and we look forward to some exciting Easter celebrations this month!

March has been a busy month in the office, with tax letters being prepared and sent out to the families for the 2021 tax year. If you have not received yours, please contact [email protected] to request a copy to be emailed or mailed to you.

The front desk is always busy with shipments, tours, visitors, residents, and vendors all stopping to say a quick hello as they go about their business. Wendy manages to greet them all with a warm smile, welcoming them in.

With the warm weather it has been great to see so many residents taking advantage of the sunny days to get outside and soak up some much-needed Vitamin D.

Have a happy Easter!

With the lifting of the single-site restriction by the Alberta Government, I am happy to welcome back some familiar faces to the Wild Rose Nursing Team. Our team was fortunate enough to receive some basic instruction in sign language to assist them in communicating more effectively with residents who use this method of communication. We installed our new call bell system in mid-march and the nursing staff are so happy with the results! All residents receive a call bell upon move-in that allows them to reach a nurse 24/7.

March was a busy month for us with St. Patrick’s Day and Robbie Burns celebrations to get our residents out and socializing! Although Robbie Burns Day is actually on January 25th, we were in outbreak at that time and had to postpone the festivities. We are thrilled that we were able to finally have the event on March 25th! Festivities included Highland Dancers, bagpipes, haggis, and some good Scottish fun all around.

In April, we will be celebrating Ukrainian culture for the month, including a tutorial on the famous Pysanka Easter eggs! Of course we will be celebrating Easter and all that it represents for our residents and their families as well.

Dining & Food Services — Scott Piedad

Chef Scott has been busy in the kitchen, preparing for his spring/summer menu to roll out. He continues to bake his delicious signature Wild Rose cookies for our tour guests and special events, and people rave about these amazing treats!

He really knocked it out of the park on St. Patrick’s Day, creating an Irish Feast for our residents that included Steak and Guinness Pie for dinner. Our residents are so fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated culinary staff who take great delight in creating memories and moments for their pleasure.

Maintenance & Housekeeping

Spring Cleaning is in the air! Our housekeeping team is busy doing some freshening up as the warm weather approaches. We've been keeping our windows open, allowing fresh air to flow in. Alex, our Maintenance Manager, has been actively working on renovating our vacant suites, making them move-in ready for new residents!

Alex also provides maintenance support to one of our sister sites in Sherwood Park at least once a week, but we can assure you that your maintenance concerns will be promptly looked after. If you have any questions or concerns regarding maintenance or housekeeping, please feel free to reach out directly to Alex at [email protected]

I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a couple of days at West Edmonton Mall, proudly showing off Wild Rose to potential new residents and some wonderful conversations were definitely had. Wild Rose is a destination location and I believe we have really changed the way that people view congregate living. We are like a cruise ship that never leaves the port!

We offer fine dining, fun activities, and the fellowship of like-minded residents who are looking to form friendships and lasting relationships. I am so grateful for the role that I get to play in helping seniors and their families ensure that the place they choose to live is safe, healthy, and heart-warming.
