You Can't Keep the Fun Out of Wild Rose

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy New Year and best wishes for the year ahead! We are excited about the direction we are headed in and hopeful that we may see some resolution to this pandemic that we have been living through for so long.

We are so proud of the staff at Wild Rose who have been working tirelessly and displaying such a strong commitment to each other as team members. While there have been many challenges in dealing with COVID, the staff here have remained strong and the sense of community amongst staff and residents is clear to anyone who comes into the residence.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our families and caregivers who work tirelessly by our sides to help keep everyone here safe and healthy!

All the best,

Wild Rose Team

Lifestyles & Recreation — Erin Keith

Residents rang in the New Year early on NYE with a small celebration held in the dining room—a toast to better things to come in 2022!

This year, residents will be participating in helping to create the vision they would like to see for their lifestyle and activity programming, in conjunction with myself and the leadership team. I have been busy working one-on-one with the residents to complete what we call an Interest Inventory to help gain a better insight into the interests of each resident. This will help us better tailor our programming to meet their needs! We are very excited and it’s perfect timing with the current group activities being restricted.

We had a Nail & Spa Day for residents and the ladies certainly came out in droves to get fresh and sparkly nails for the New Year! I’d like to thank the HCA staff who always are so helpful with this project.

Friday afternoons are seeing the resurrection of the “Spirit Trolley” for our residents to boost their spirits and have some fun! They’ll be treated to a delicious snack, a spirit beverage of their choosing, and a game of marshmallow pong that always gets lots of giggles! We can’t think of a better way to ease into a weekend of warmer weather.

Plans are already underfoot for our celebration of coming out of "Outbreak Status!" Residents will be entertained with Highland Dancers, a bagpiper, and some delicious Haggis to try. While COVID may have temporarily restricted the fun, you can’t keep the fun out of Wild Rose!

Dining & Food Services — Scott Piedad

January has been a cold month and our residents certainly enjoy the comforts of hot soup and hearty meals to keep them warm! We will be hosting another “Food for Thought” meeting in February, once the restrictions have been lifted. This is where we will be soliciting feedback and opinions from residents with regards to menu planning, selections, and suggestions that they would like to see in the dining room.

If you would like to submit feedback on behalf of your loved one, kindly send your suggestions or concerns to [email protected]

Maintenance & Housekeeping

With this crazy weather, it has certainly been a challenge to keep the parking lot and sidewalks safe for our residents and visitors. We strive to maintain excellent standards, but it's important to always use caution.

We remind visitors to take precautions when parking and walking to the site. We encourage you to “walk like a penguin” on icy sidewalks and report any treacherous conditions to the office as soon as possible. We’d also like to remind visitors that they can park anywhere in the parking lot where it states “Residence Parking.” If a stall has been assigned to a particular resident, there will be a sign on that stall and we ask that you always refrain from parking there.

Our housekeeping staff are keeping busy with ensuring that our resident suites and common areas are kept clean and tidy! Please remember that laundry services can be provided to your loved one if they require this service, but there is a cost associated with it. If you would like to learn more about our laundry services program, please reach out to [email protected] for more information.

I am so excited to let families and loved ones know that I have had the opportunity to spend a couple of Wednesdays having a booth at West Edmonton Mall to let people know about the fantastic living opportunity that awaits them at Wild Rose! I will be going back to the mall in February and will keep you posted about the times and dates. I would love to see some of you pop by for a visit and answer any questions you may have about Wild Rose.

It's an incredible honour to be part of helping so many seniors transition to Wild Rose. If you would like any information about Wild Rose or wish to refer someone to our residence, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]
